On Wed., Dec. 6, All Saints Catholic Academy was recognized as a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School by the New Jersey Department of Education during an awards ceremony held in Trenton, New Jersey. Pictured are (rt. to left.): Arcelio Aponte, President, NJ State Board of Education, Kimberley Harrington, Commissioner Secretary, NJ State Board of Education, Mary McManus McElroy, Esq., NJ Director for Catholic School Families for the Archdiocese of Newark, Sr. Rita Marie Fritzen, OSF, Principal of ASCA, and Nicole Narese, Chairperson for ASCA’s 2017 Blue Ribbon Bid.
All Saints Catholic Academy’s Student Council sponsored a “Toys for Texas” Drive benefitting Archdiocesan of Houston schools and families affected by the historic flooding of Hurricane Harvey. The 3 week drive yielded over $450 worth of gift cards to store like Toys R’ Us, Walmart, and Amazon.com and over 360 toys or games that will be distributed to students and families at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Crosby, TX, and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Galena, TX. Ryan Divan, a 6th Grader, and his father, who generously offered to pay for the shipping costs of all collected items, brought this idea to ASCA’s Student Council because Ryan wondered how he’d feel if his family lost his belongings in a flood. ASCA students also sent homemade Christmas cards to both schools.
Individual photo retakes (Grades Pre-K – 7) will take place this Thursday, December 7th. Please be sure to send in forms if you are having a photo retaken. Any student who was absent for the first Photo Day will have his/her photo taken Thursday as well.
In the spirit of gratitude, students created Thanksgiving place mats and decorations for Veterans during Art class. The place mats and decorations were delivered to the East Orange Campus of the VA New Jersey Health Care System. We wish all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
