ASCA Update

On April 27, the Student Council and Safety Patrol members embarked on the Third Annual Leadership Trip.  The students toured the Statehouse in Trenton and visited the Planetarium.

Fourth Grade student, Bianca Lumang, was a Finalist in Optimum Community’s 2016 Black History Month’s Essay Contest. She wrote about what it would be like to meet Sojourner Truth. She won a mini Ipad.  Congratulations to Bianca!

The fifth grade “Ballroom Dance” performance for parents was held on April 20, at 7:00 P.M. in the gymnasium.  The students also performed for the school on April 14.

ASCA’s Student Council sponsors a collection of nonperishable food items and paper goods twice each month.  Collection dates for April were Thursday, April 7, and Tuesday, April 19.  Items collected were donated to various parish food pantries.

Open registration is ongoing for grades Pre-kindergarten -3, Pre-kindergarten-4, and kindergarten through eighth grades for the school year 2016-2017.  Please call the school office (201-443-8384) for an appointment to come tour our school and meet our teachers.

ASCA Update

Eric Tonne (4B) placed third in the Earth Day Calendar Contest.  Christian Bujnowski (5B) received Honorable Mention.  Congratulations to both of these talented artists!

ASCA is proud of its Forensics Team.  Mikyla Bethune won first place in Dramatic Interpretation, and Bandon Flores was a finalist in a recent competition at Hudson Catholic High School.

The first grade classes enjoyed a Field Trip to the Crayola Factory.

ASCA recently sponsored a Tag Day for Autism.

ASCA’s Annual Carnival in conjunction with Blessed Miriam Teresa Demjanovich Parish will be held Tuesday, April 26 through Saturday, April 30.  Please join us!

ASCA Update

ASCA will participate in the Bayonne Chapter of UNICO’s “Walk for Schools” Walk-a-thon on Saturday, April 23, at Stephen R. Gregg Park.  Sr. Rita and Mrs. Macanka are the Team Captains.  Please support our school by walking or donating as a sponsor.

The annual ASCA Gala will be held on Saturday, April 9.  Congratulations to this year’s honorees: Thomas Keating, Jane Dullea, and St. Mary’s City-Wide Pee Wee Basketball represented by Msgr. Lawrence Miller, Diane Liming, and Jane Mattiello.

ASCA Update

Congratulations to Olivia Sobecki (5A).  Olivia won first place in the American Legion Post #165 Coloring Contest.  Her entry will now move onto the next level of judging.

ASCA’s Student Council sponsors a collection of nonperishable food items and paper goods twice each month.  Collection dates for March were Tuesday, March 1, and Tuesday, March 15.  Items collected were donated to various parish food pantries.

On St. Patrick’s Day, students celebrated Irish culture by wearing green and learning both Irish fact and fiction.  An assembly featured Irish music, dancing, jokes, phrases, and blessings.  Erin Go Bragh!

On March 17, the Student Council and the Safety Patrol sponsored a Bake Sale to help defray the cost of their upcoming Leadership Trip.

Students attended mass on Wednesday, March 23, to commemorate Holy Week.  Students in grades two through eight received the sacrament of Reconciliation during the season of Lent.

All students attended an assembly themed “Service” which was the word of the month for February.  Students of the month who best demonstrated service to others are:  Abigail Wilson, Christian Redondo, Jack Cusick, Gia Logan, Valentina Cardino, Sofia Guitierrez, Mackenzy Russo-Alesi, Ian Geisler, Madison DiFranco, Samantha Russell, Christopher Rubio, Nathaniel Ramirez, Nolan Geisler, Caitlin Slasinsky, Jessica Birtwistle, Hannah Delaney, Coda Camaya, Brigid McCabe, Vincent Mattiello, Melvin Saldua, and Tyler Macanka.
